About us and our beliefs

As part of God’s family, Leckhampton Baptist Church aims to bring glory to Jesus Christ in our lives and in our community. And we believe the good news of Jesus is as relevant today as it's ever been.

So whether you're thinking about faith, looking for a new church or just visiting for the first time, we hope you'll always feel very welcome at LBC.

What can I expect when I visit for the first time...?

Our Sunday services start at 10:30am and usually include songs and hymns, prayer, and a talk or sermon from the Bible. This is followed by a social time over tea and coffee.

Some weeks will include communion (The Lord's Supper) for those who are followers of Jesus, whatever their denomination or background.

And please don't worry about a formal dress code (we don't have one!) - please just come as you are... we'll be delighted to see you!

Our Beliefs

We are evangelical, meaning that we take the Bible at its word, and that the gospel – the good news of Jesus Christ – is at the centre of all we do. The Bible is God’s word, and tells us the story of how he brought back, and is still bringing back, the human race to himself. At the core of this reconciliation story is that Jesus gave his life as a sacrifice for our sins, rose again, and now sits at the right hand of God the Father.

As we grow together in love and service we hope to better reflect Jesus, who said, “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

We subscribe to the Evangelical Alliance Basis of Faith.

Our Relationships

We're members of the Baptist Union of Great Britain, the West of England Baptist Network and the Evangelical Alliance.

We support national and local charities and causes that help people at home and overseas to become all that God intended them to be. Among these causes are BMS World Mission, Tearfund, Christian Aid, Open Doors and Cheltenham Foodbank.

There's a collection point in the church for the Cheltenham Foodbank which we hope will be a way in which we bless our community in the name of Jesus.
